WAHOO’s were everywhere this weekend. Florida wa WAHOO’s were everywhere this weekend. Florida was the place to be… if you enjoy running in 80 degrees in Miami. Strong performances across the board in the Miami Marathon, with all of our athletes showing up. Big shoutout to @kevinvega1781 @jperdomo85 @namregomez for getting it done.

A huge happy birthday to @nykyw11 , who rang in another badass year around the sun by crushing half marathon #30 at Big Beach.

Another birthday shoutout goes to @lisaruns_ , who was set to race the Asheville Half but pivoted to a hometown 13.1 thanks to the weather. When Plan A changes, champions adjust.

If there’s one thing we know for sure: where there’s a will, there’s a way.
These athletes always figure it out.

This race was a benchmark for @mcgheemr as we build toward the NYC Half & Boston. She ran strong and showed exactly where the fitness is heading.

If you didn’t puke at the finish, did you even r If you didn’t puke at the finish, did you even race?

KT told me she wanted to PR by 3 min at the Houston Half. I wanted to tell her she should go for 1:40, but I conservatively reset her 1:49 target to 1:45. She was like, oh wow! Fast forward 13.1 miles and she came in right at 1:40 (12 min PR) and blew some chunks at the finish line. Lol

Super proud of you, KT! It’s time to put those sandbagging ways behind you and start dreaming of some more aggressive times. With your belief and your WAHOO! RUNNING Crew, anything is possible.

Dear KT, you are the young running buddy I didn’t know I needed. Your dry sense of humor and cleverness make every run entertaining. I adore you and am thankful I get to share so many miles with you despite our huge age gap.

You have soooooo much potential. It’s fun to see you realize it.
Sue is a 60-year-old athlete and an incredible com Sue is a 60-year-old athlete and an incredible community builder. She leads @webe_running1 out of Boca Raton, FL, and we met through my Team ULTRA connection with Jana Mackler. From day one, Sue has been pure joy. She’s experienced, committed, and still deeply hungry to grow.

We’ve been working together for just under three months, so we’re still learning each other. For Houston, we chose a conservative race plan and it turned out to be exactly right. Sue started patiently, settled into her rhythm, and finished strong crossing the line within two minutes of our goal. (4:47:54) It was truly a great day at the @chevronhoustonmarahton.

One of the biggest pillars of marathoning is nutrition. We made some thoughtful adjustments to her fueling, and overall it worked really well. That said, post-marathon stomach pain continues to be an issue, and that’s an area we still need to explore and refine.

This is where the power of community really matters.

Have any of you experienced GI issues three hours or more after a marathon? If so, what helped you? Changes to fueling, hydration, timing, recovery nutrition, or anything else you’ve learned along the way. Please share.

Overall, this was an excellent first race together. We’re excited to keep learning, getting stronger, and continuing to build joy and connection in this running world together whether it be with WAHOO! RUNNING, WeBe Running or @michelobultra ’s #teamULTRA. There is so much joy to be found in this sport and with people like Sue!

4 Houston Half Marathons, same athlete, 1 hour of improvement!

Houston Half Marathon Progression

*BN wasn’t training hard for his 2026 race as he was planning to pace a fellow WAHOO! RUNNING athlete, Megan, to her first sub-2 half marathon. When Megan decided she couldn’t make the trip to Houston, we shifted gears and declared this a FAFO & HFDI race. Boy, did he ever find out & have fun! This race outcome highlights the power of consistency! Never underestimate it.

Brendan is an amazing athlete. He shows up and gives it his best. He’s great about embracing cross training and strength training. He does it all well!

The world is a better place because Brendan Nelson is in it.

Three questions came out of this weekend:
1. How fast can he run?!
2. What are we going for at the @storminnormanrun Half Marathon?
3. When is a WAHOO! RUNNING tattoo going to appear on his shit arm? #IYKYK lol

Prediction - Brendan beats me by 5 min at Stormin’ Norman Half in March.

Fact - I know I’ve done my job well when my athletes start passing me in races.

Cheers to you, Brendan! I am thankful I get to coach you.
Kevin is a beast. He was running beside me at the Kevin is a beast.

He was running beside me at the start, and I patted him on the shoulder and told him to go for it. He took off like a rocket and never looked back. We joked after the race that I must’ve hit his turbo button. Lol

Kevin is strong, fit, and determined. He has an aerobic engine and a strength that will continue to fuel personal bests for a long, long time. But beyond the athlete, Kevin is a generous man. A community man. He takes care of others in a way very few people do. I truly believe incalculable blessings will continue to flow his way because of how he lives and shows up for people.

He is one of those athletes who sees what I program, does what I program, and everything comes together on race day. It isn’t easy, but it is simple.

So what changed when I started coaching him? I slowed him down. I stopped him from trying to win every workout, every single day. He realized he didn’t need to be exhausted all the time. He learned the value of keeping easy days easy, which frees him up to make hard days truly hard, allowing his body to recover and adapt properly in between the hard sessions.

He also loves the gym, and that strength has made his body resilient. Strength and resiliency lead to consistency. Consistency leads to race-day magic.

I love coaching Kevin. He makes my job fun.

Congratulations on your PR of 1:36:45

Coach CT
We’ve always dreamed of taking WAHOO! Worldwide, We’ve always dreamed of taking WAHOO! Worldwide, and José is the man who truly allows us to make that claim. He lives in Honduras and was brought to us by Kevin Vega, who is also from Honduras but now lives in Texas. These two have been a blessing to WAHOO! and a blessing to me personally.

José is one of the smiliest runners you will ever meet. He’s an incredible athlete with a strong background in cycling, which means he came to running with a massive aerobic engine. However, that doesn’t automatically mean a body that’s ready for the demands of running. It took me longer than it should have, as a coach, to fully recognize this truth: when a cyclist transitions to running, slow your roll. A low heart rate doesn’t tell the whole story.

We had to be patient and intentionally build running resiliency. That meant strength training, running economy work, and a very gradual increase in mileage.

Before the NYC Marathon, José’s hip started to bother him, so we backed off running and leaned heavily into cycling and strength work. He took more time away from running than either of us wanted, but that patience paid off. With physical therapy and reduced run volume, his hip grew stronger.

The result? José still managed to PR at NYC 2025 and then followed it up with another PR at the 2026 Aramco Houston Half Marathon (1:39:51)

Proof that patience, trust, and smart training always win in the long run.

Way to go, José! We are proud of you!
